Mike joined Rotary in 1992, and was President of the Warrenton Rotary Club in 1995-96, and has twice been named “Rotarian of the Year”. He is a multiple Paul Harris Fellow, and a double Sustaining Member, as well as a member of the Bequest Society. His wife Connie is also a Paul Harris Fellow and a member of the Bequest Society.
Mike was the District Governor in Rotary year 2003-04 in district 7710 (Raleigh area of NC). He served 4 years on the Zone Executive Committee for Zones 33 & 34, as well as serving 3 years as the Rotary Foundation Alumni Coordinator for Zone 33 (RFAC / 2006-08, which includes 13 Rotary districts in 5 states). And, he now travels extensively each year (February-May) conducting training at PETS, District Assemblies, and District Conferences. Also, he was the Governor during the first graduating class of Rotary Peace Scholars from the Peace Center (Duke & UNC) located in his district…and served as the aide to then Trustee John Kenny, when he visited the Rotary Peace Center.
Mike owned a computer consulting company in New York until he and Connie moved to Lake Gaston North Carolina in 1989. He has a Masters in Computer Science (Arizona State University), and also earned the coveted CDP designation (Certified Data Processor from the Institute for Certification of Computer Professionals in Chicago, IL.). He enjoys fishing (for over 50 years), and is a US Coast Guard licensed Charter Captain, and fished on a professional tour in the early nineties. And of course, he is a member of the Rotary Fishing Fellowship, as well as ROTI (Rotarians on the Internet Fellowship).
Mike was the original web master for the RI web site www.RotaryFellowships.org. Currently, he is the web master for many Rotary district web sites (in Zones 33 & 34), as well as other districts from California and Oregon to Florida, and hundreds of individual Rotary clubs. Also, his company provides the District and Club database (DaCdb) software, being used in over 105 Rotary districts (3,300 clubs and 176,000 Rotarians).
